Like most people in my early 20’s I didn’t have much of a skincare routine. In my mid 20’s I started using the Clinque range for oily skin. Someone at work recommended it and I had oily skin, so I thought, why not. Previously every moisturiser I had tried had bought me out in spots. This served me well into my 30’s, until one day out of the blue my skin suddenly become very dry and tight. I tried a range of other moisturisers, cleansers and facials and nothing worked. I now found myself wishing I had the oily skin I always had in my 20’s – when are we every happy, hey!? After visiting various beauty salons and trying their facials and skincare routines I came across Dermalogica. Dermalogica have been around since the 80’s and pride themselves on being free from common irritants and ingredients that could cause breakouts such as Lanolin, SD alcohol, mineral oil, artificial colours and fragrance. It turns out that my skin was dry as it had become so sensitive so I was prescribed the Ultra Calming range. This seriously was a life turner. Since using this range my skin is never irritated, no burning or itching and is lot less dry.
Here are the products I use:
Dermalogica Precleanse – I only really use this if I have a lot of make-up on which I haven’t already taken off with a face wipe. But it really does a great job a removing makeup if you haven’t already taken it off by another means.
Ultra Calming Cleanser – Lovely, smooth and doesn’t irritate.
Daily Microfoliant – My ESSENTIAL item – I love it. Although I don’t use it daily (about 2/ 3 times a week), this exfoliator is smooth and kind to the skin and really makes it glow.
Ultra Calming Serum Concentrate – As my skin is sensitive I use this instead of a tradition moisturiser. As it’s a serum you don’t expect it to moisturise as well but it really does the job. A little goes a long way too.
Ultra Calming Barrier Repair – Use this if your skin needs an extra bit of moisture on top of the serum. I find this makes my skin really smooth, reduces the size of pores and generally improves my complexion.
Ultra Calming Ultra Soothing Eye Serum – Eye care for sensitive skin.
Dermalogica Sponge Cloth – A lovely and soft cloth, perfect for removing the cleanser and exfoliant.
Even if you don’t have sensitive skin and you suffer with other issues such as oily/ dry, ageing, acne Dermalogica have a range to suit you, so be sure to speak to one of their specialists and ask for some free samples to try.
