I’ve blogged a few times about the wrinkles that have appeared around my eyes and how I’m trying to do what I can to cover them up. One of my main issues is that the mixture of foundation and powder are sinking into my wrinkles around my eyes and highlighting them rather than covering them up. I explained this to a MAC assistant a few months ago and she said I need to use a finer powder that isn’t as heavy, and suggested I try the MAC Blot Pressed Powder. This was an improvement from the heavy MAC Studio Fix Powder I was using but still not great….

However, on my way to a recent holiday I visited the MAC counter at Gatwick airport (as I always do) and I came across the MAC Prep & Prime Transparent Finishing Powder. It claims to “Reduce the shine while optically minimizing the look of pores, lines and imperfections”. Perfect I thought and instantly snapped it up!

The MAC Prep & Prime Transparent Finishing Powder is white in colour but is used for all skin colours, as when applied it becomes transparent – so don’t worry when you first see if if you have darker skin! After using it just once I could notice a difference. The powder is so fine that it doesn’t sink into my skin as much, so the wrinkles are a lot less visible than when I was using heavier powder. It’s silky smooth and glides on very easily when used with a big powder brush. As its not a full coverage powder I only use the MAC Prep & Prime Transparent Finishing Powder around my eye area, and then I use a heavier powder on the rest if my face where wrinkles aren’t an issue. It sets my foundation really well and being finer powder I thought the staying power wouldn’t be as good, but I can’t say that I’ve noticed that being an issue so I’m chuffed.

If you are looking for a fine translucent powder then I definitely would recommend the MAC Prep & Prime Transparent Finishing Powder.
