Elemis Marine Dream Gift Set Review

Elemis Marine Dream Gift Set Review, beauty blogger

Due to my highly sensitive skin I’ve been a Dermalogica user for quite some time now and I’ve been wary to try any other brands in case they irritated my skin – if you’ve got sensitive skin I’m sure you’ll know how I feel.

Elemis has always been a skincare brand I’ve wanted to try as I’ve heard such good things about it, and in particular their Pro-Collagen Marine Cream but the £80 price tag has always put me off. Luckily during the black Friday sale in November I managed to get hold of the Elemis Marine Dream Gift set for just £134 which is usually £199, but better still all the products are worth £371 – so an absolute bargain! How could I say no to that!?

The Elemis Marine Dream gift set includes all the products you need for a good skincare routine and comes in a beautiful white box with a purple lining and mirror (pictured above). If you’re like me and have hoards of beauty and makeup products then it’s great to use later on as a cute storage device. The packaging of each product oozes luxury and looks beautiful on the bathroom display. However, each of the pots are made of thick glass which makes them large and heavy – not at all ideal when travelling.

The Elemis Marine Dream gift set includes:

  • Elemis Pro-Collagen Oxgenating Night Cream 100ml
  • Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream 100ml
  • Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm 105g
  • Elemis Pro-Radiance Illuminating Eye Balm 10ml

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream 100ml

This is the product that I heard so many rave reviews about and my main reason for purchasing the set, so I had high hopes it would be worth the investment and justify my extravagant spree! The cream feels as luxurious as the packaging. It’s silky soft to touch and is very refreshing and moisturising when applied to the face. However, there is a but… it didn’t last long. In less than an hour my skin felt very tight and dry. I tried applying another layer to see if that helped. It didn’t. I then tried applying a thicker layer the next day. That didn’t help either. The only way I could stop my skin feeling so tight was to apply my trusty Dermalogica moisturiser on top, which kinda defeats the point!

Elemis Pro-Collagen Oxgenating Night Cream 100ml

I’ve never been one for night creams as I’ve always found my normal moisturiser does the trick. As I was really let down by the Pro-Collagen Marine Cream I wasn’t holding out much hopes for this night cream, but I did really like it. To touch the consistency feels similar to the Marine Cream but once applied to the face it feels thicker, and because of this, moisturised my face a lot better than the Marine Cream. As a result I now use this as my day and night cream as the Marine Cream is now redundant.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm 105g

I usually use gel or creamy based products to wash my face with as I like to make the routine as quick as possible. With the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm you have to massage it on to your dry face, dampen your hands and massage again, then finally rinse. Although it takes a bit longer I do really like this product. Its smooth and leaves my skin feeling clean with no residue. Would I pay £39 for it…. No! For me, it doesn’t do anything above what a £23 cleanser would do, so as much as I like it, the price tag is just too much for me to justify.

Elemis Pro-Radiance Illuminating Eye Balm 10ml

I thought this product would come out white for some reason, but instead its a beige shade – imagine the look of a pale concealer/ foundation. It might be called a ‘blam’ but doesn’t have a balm like texture, more like a normal eye cream. Its a lightweight formula which feels soft when applied but I have to say that it did absolutely nothing – it didn’t brighten my eye area or feel like they were at all moisturised. With a individual price tag of £34 I expected a lot more.

So there you have it, my review of each of the products…. For my skin Elemis was not for me, but at least I’ve tried them and given them a good go. Until my next find it’s back to Dermalogica I go… which I suppose for my bank balance is a good thing…. Every cloud and all that. However, saying that if you like Elemis products then this set is for you!

Please let me know of any other skincare brands you recommend – I’d love to hear about them!
