One of the things I was most excited about when I flew to Miami recently was taking a trip to Sephora and making some beauty purchases with a hope to not only save money, but also buy some items that you can’t get in the UK. Unfortunately hardly anything was any cheaper state side but I did buy some Anastasia Beverley Hills products that you can’t get over here so I was super duper excited about that. Here is a quick run down of all the makeup purchases I made. I haven’t tried them all yet so I will probably be doing some more in-depth reviews with swatches shortly…. watch this space!
Tarte Cosmetics Tarlette In Bloom Palette
I really don’t need anymore eye shadows so I have no idea why I purchased this… That’s a lie, in fact I do…. It just looked so god damn beautiful and I have no will power!!! I’ve not tried any of these colours yet, but once I have I will then decide if I’m going to do a full post, but for now can we please just take a moment to appreciate the beauty…

Beauty Blender
I first tried the Beauty Blender about a year ago and wrote a full review on my blog, so go check it out if you haven’t already. Since trying it I have fallen in love with the flawless finish it gives my foundation that I just can’t go back to brushes. However, you do have to replace them regularly as otherwise they lose their effect pretty quickly, so while I was in Miami I picked another one up to have in stock.

Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimising Primer
I’m continually on a search for a good primer that not only makes my makeup last but also hides those pesky wrinkles. I’ve tried a few primers including the Clarins Instantly Smooth Perfecting Touch Primer which I have previously blogged about, but I still haven’t found one I can say I really like. This Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimising Primer is a small size so I thought for $11 it would be worth a try, and if I liked it I could buy the big size when I’m back the UK. I’ve only tried it once and so far so good, but I want to try it a few time before I give my verdict.

Sephora Pro Fan #65 Brush
I’ve not got a fan brush and as I’m quickly becoming a bit of a highlighting addict I thought I best invest in one. The Sephora pro fan number 65 bristles are very fine yet soft, but I’ve not experimented this brush yet so I’m excited to get sweeping with the highlighter!

Sephora Pro Small Shadow #15 Brush
I don’t really have enough eye makeup brushes for the shades I use and I definitely didn’t have one as small as this. Not having tried Sephora brushes I thought this would give me the perfect opportunity.

Anastasia Beverly Hill Eye Shadows and Liquid Lipsticks
Anastasia Beverly Hills is quickly becoming one of my favourite brands, yet its so frustrating that they don’t stock the full range in the UK , so when I was in Miami I knew I had to stock up on as many of the products that you can’t get back home. I purchased 4 eye shadows that came with a free palette and 2 x liquid lipsticks. I love these so much that a full review will be coming out on these shortly!

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Strobing Light Mega Highlighter
It’s gold and it sparkles so I had to have it! The Yves Saint Touche Eclat Strobing Light Mega Highlighter isn’t yet available in the UK, and is fairly new in the US, so I was really excited when I saw this in Sephora and quickly popped it into my shopping basket. I haven’t given it a full trial yet as I only used it once while in a rush one evening, but from what I can tell its the same YSL Touche Eclat that we all know and love, but has gold shimmering particles in it. It’s very bright so used for highlighting rather than just covering the dark bags under your eyes. I wasn’t wowed by it when I first used it but like I say I don’t think I’ve given it a fair go just yet…..

Smashbox Brow Tech Matte Pencil in Blonde
Having very blonde, almost white hair I find it very difficult to find an eyebrow pencil pale enough for my fair eyebrows. To date my favourite has got to be the Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe, however I still feel this is too dark and I would like to find a paler shade. I came across the Smashbox Brow Tech Matte Pencil in Blonde in Ultra Beauty at Lincoln Road Shopping Mall. The colour is definitely paler than the ABH Brow Wiz with more of a strawberry blonde tone to it. The texture is quite waxy but after trialing it I think the pencil is too thick compared to the ABH one so I won’t be able to get an as defined brow. I’m thinking maybe mixing the two could work though so I’m going to try that soon.
USA price $23 (including Tax)
I hope you liked my haul and be sure to follow me on Instagram and Twitter so you can see when I release more in-depth posts on some of these products individually.
