You’ve probably heard that getting your hands on a Kylie Cosmetic Lip Kit is one of the most stressful things that can happen in a makeup addicts life. Seriously I’m not kidding. These things sell out within minutes every time they go on sale, and after missing out a few times I decided to take things a bit more seriously…… I fired up 3 devices and filled up my basket on each one in order to snag myself some of these highly lusted after lipsticks. Following a very tense 10 minutes or so I managed to bag myself Candy K, Kourt K and a Kylie Cosmetic lip gloss in the shade “Literally”. My Snapchat followers saw it all in action and were probably deafened by my squeals after my order was accepted and went through!
Once the Lip Kits arrived I felt that as I put so much into getting these beauties that I really should write a post on them, but I didn’t want to write a standard review as I’m sure you’ve all read many of them by now. So instead I’ve decided to give you my thoughts on the Kylie Cosmetic Lip Kit versus some other highly popular liquid lipsticks – Anastasia Beverly Hills. So here we go…….
Price
Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick: $22 (c. £15.25)
Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit: $29 (c. £20.10)
Although looking at the prices above you would think that Anastasia Beverly Hills would win it, you have to remember that the Lip Kits come with a liquid lipstick and a lip liner. When you consider that a good quality lip liner (and it is a good quality lip liner) will set you back around £12 on its own, it makes the Lip Kit great value for money.
There are shipping costs to take into consideration but depending on where you live and how you order the ABH liquid lipstick this will vary hugely, so I haven’t included them in this comparison.

Accessibility
If you live in the UK getting your hands on US products is never particularly easy or cheap. I think
it goes without saying that its a lot easier to nab yourself a Anastasia Beverly Hills lipstick as they can be bought from a variety of shops online (and in store if you go to the US) and they are actually IN STOCK! I think we know the winner of this one…..

Shade Range
Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick: 27 colours
Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit: 11 colours
Kylie will no doubt be bringing out more shades as her original launch was with only 3 shades and has since grown very quickly, plus she just announced she will be launching a 12th shade “Exposed” very shortly. However, Anastasia Beverly Hills are known for being passionate about huge colour ranges to suit all skin tones and colours. They launched 10 new shades for Spring and at 27 shades already its going to take some doing for Kylie to ever beat ABH’s offering.

Application
If you haven’t used liquid lipsticks before they will take a bit of getting used to. The Kylie Cosmetics lipstick is wetter than the Anastasia Beverly Hills lipstick when first applied which makes it smoother to work with. The doe foot applicator on Kylie’s lipstick is also smaller making it easier to shape around the cupids bow in particular.

Staying Power
As with most matte liquid lipsticks they stay put for a long time. With both these lipsticks you can talk, eat and drink and they barely budge. However I found that with the Kylie Cosmetics lipstick if you applied slightly too much, after a while it would crack then crumble and flake off on certain areas of the lips. On the other hand be careful when swatching both these products – If you leave them on for any more than 5 minutes you will be left with a stained arm for days….
Winner on staying power: Anastasia Beverly Hills
Dryness
I’m asked a lot about the dryness of both these lipsticks and I’m not going to lie – both lipsticks are more drying than a “normal” lipstick as they are very matte. That doesn’t mean that with some good lip prepping before hand you can’t wear them. I have very dry lips so I just make sure I exfoliate and then dab a little oil on them about half an hour before I apply the lipstick and I’m all good.
Both these lipsticks are similar on the drying front but I would say that the Kylie Lip Kit is slightly dryer if I had to choose one. I also find that the Anastasia Beverly Hills lipstick seems to have a bit of a plumping effect on my lips – not like those tingly lipsticks you get which are meant to plump your lips, but I find as it drys it makes then look plumper. This isn’t promoted as benefit from ABH so it may just happen on my lips for some reason – weird – but I’d thought I’d mention it anyway!
Winner on dryness: Anastasia Beverly Hills
Pigmentation
Matte liquid lipsticks are always a solid colour so you need good pigmentation. If I had bought the Kylie Lip Kit on its own and not owned a Anastasia Beverly Hills lipstick I would think the pigmentation was fab and would have no complaints. But, when compared to ABH you can see that the pigmentation of ABH exceeds the Lip Kits – see swatches below. You can particularly notice it with Kourt K, and this proves problematic because as I said above, you don’t want to apply too much as otherwise it has the tendency to crumble and flake off.
Winner on pigmentation: Anastasia Beverly Hills
Overall winner
And the winner by 4 – 2 is Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick. For me, unless Kylie brings out an amazing shade that I can’t get in the ABH collection (like the metal collection for example) I’m sticking with Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks from now on.
