NIOD; The Skincare Game Changer

Niod, review, beauty blogger

So today I’m talking about skincare….. again! While on my quest for a better youthful complexion I have been trying lots of skincare products over the past few months. Some have worked, some haven’t and some have even made my skin worse. Skincare is all about trial and error for me, as what can work on one person may not work on another. I always read lots of reviews before purchasing any skincare and make sure that the person reviewing the product has a similar skin type to me to give it the best chance of working.

So lets start with my skin type: Dehydrated, sensitive, oily t-zone with issues of redness, ageing and very large pores. Yep, as you can tell with all those issues I’m in need of some help!

I was introduced to the NIOD (Non-Invasive Options in Dermal Science) brand by Stacey, and after falling in love with their Photography Fluid I was immediately keen to see what else they had to offer as its now become a staple in my makeup routine. Recently I have been using three other products in their range;

NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum (CAIS)*
NIOD Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex (MMHC)
NIOD Non-Acid Acid Precursor (NAAP)*

Before I start this review I have to say that I’m no scientist (you probably knew that, but hey I wanted to make it clear, OK!). NIOD are all about the science. Science that I can’t even begin to try and explain myself, so if you like the sound of their products go and read their website as its packed full of information, and really goes into the detail behind why they use the ingredients and how they are beneficial. That’s my caveat done….

Niod Copper Amino Isolate Serum (CAIS)*

The Copper Amino Isolate Serum (CAIS) has got to be one of NIOD’s most raved about products and I know its another favorite of Stacey’s. CAIS arrives in two bottles. One contains the copper powder and one has the activator in it. Once you mix these two together it creates a blue liquid, which you by the way, you don’t want to get on any clothes or furniture as it will stain!

CAIS contains 1% pure Copper Tripeptide which is a peptide found in nature and in human plasma. As we age the the peptide in human plasma decreases so much that by the time we are 60 we will have 60% less than we did in our teens. Copper Tripeptide is responsible for activation of a wide range of skin health functions, including wound healing, immune function, collagen synthesis, blood vessel development, fibroblast production and anti-inflammatory responses.

Although CAIS is called a serum it actually doesn’t have the consistency of a typical serum at all. It feels as light as water meaning it melts into the skin instantly, which is great if you apply a lot of potions to your face like me, as you don’t have to hang around waiting for it to dry or soak in. You apply the serum twice a day on clean dry skin and it can even be applied around the eye area.

The NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum is meant to prevent and reverse all signs of aging with visible results after just 5 days. Having used this serum for a few weeks now I can say its definitely done that. My skin tone has evened out, it feels plumper with more of a bounce to it, and my fine line around the eyes do seem to have been ironed out.

Niod Multi-molecular hyaluronic complex, review, beauty blogger

Niod Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex (MMHC)

MMHC contains 12 forms of hyaluronic compounds. You’ve probably heard that hyaluronic acid is amazing for the skin! Hyaluronic acid has a multitude of benefits for the skin but its biggest one is providing intense hydration due to its ability to retain water. One gram of hyaluronic acid is able to hold up to six liters of water! It also stimulates the production of collagen for a plumper appearance, works as an antioxidant to shield from free radical damage and prevents loss of elasticity. Pretty amazing stuff hey…..!?

The Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex like CAIS, has a water like consistency which is clear. It soaks in quickly and leaves no sticky residue. I applied it twice a day on top of CAIS.

Although sold separately MMHC is designed to work with CAIS. In order to give a fair review I trialed MMHC on its on, and then with CAIS so I could really see what the benefits were. I’ve got to be honest and say that on it’s own I didn’t see much of a difference to my skin, but once combined with CAIS I could immediately tell my skin was more hydrated. I suffer with dehydrated skin which can cause it to feel tight, but since using MMHC with CAIS I no longer have that problem at all! These products combined are so hydrating that I know Stacey and a few other bloggers have reported that after using them together they no longer require a moisturiser.

Niod Non-acid acid precursor, NAPP, review, beauty blogger

Niod Non-Acid Acid Precursor (NAAP)*

To put it simply Niod’s Non-Acid Acid Precursor is a serum which reserfaces the skin without the use of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), beta hydroxy acid (BHA) or retinoids that are common in chemical peels, and are also known to cause redness, sensitivity and inflammation.

NAPP is white serum which has a thick consistency and should only be applied as part of your night time routine.

I have very sensitive skin so I was wary about trying NAAP because as soon as I hear the words “resurfacer” I know its a no no with my sensitivity issues. However I didn’t experience any sensitivity at all with this product. Since using NAPP my skins texture has improved and I’ve found that I’m needing to exfoliate less. Strangely my fake tan lasts on my face longer as well – Like I say I’m no scientist, but I put it down to my skin having better texture so the fake tan sticks to it better, or something like that…… My skin is smoother and more refined so I’m finding my makeup looks more flawless too. It’s a thumbs up from me!

I can’t recommend these NIOD products enough – they now have a new brand ambassador in me! If you haven’t tried any of their range you need to! #IheartNIOD
