August Makeup & Beauty Favourites

August makeup and beauty favourites

I’ve learnt a valuable lesson this weekend….. Don’t lend your camera to your Dad who changes all the settings (and doesn’t tell you) on your camera and then do a 3 hour photography session without realising until the end….. #SoGutted!

Note to self: Always check the settings after someone has used your camera, or better still don’t lend it to anyone in the first place! So I’m sorry guys but these photos aren’t as good as I hoped they would be! 🙁

I’ve looked forward to writing this post as I’ve not done a “favoutites” post before. Usually I would wait until next week to publish this sort of post but as I’ll be in New York and I’ve had issues with scheduling on Blogger in the past I’ve posted it today. These are the latest makeup and beauty products that I’ve been loving in August. I hope you like it and let me know what products I should be trying in September!

Girls with attitude natural eyeshadow palette, review, GWA

Girls With Attitude Natural Eyeshadow Palette*

I admit that I’m a bit of a makeup snob, so when I saw this Girls With Attitude Natural Eyeshadow Palette that only cost £8.99 I was very skeptical. Hands up, I admit, I shouldn’t have been…. For under £9.00 this GWA palette is brilliant! The colours are pigmented, velvety soft and the shimmers actually come our shimmery. The Natural Eyeshadow Palette has a beautiful array of shades which are perfect for an everyday look, but GWA also do a Smokey Eye palette which I think I’m going to try out today so check that one out too.

urban decay de-slick setting spray review

Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray

I’m so glad I purchased this Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray before the really hot days hit us this summer. I bought the travel size (30ml) for £9 mainly so I could see if I liked it before I invested in the full size version which costs £22. I’m actually glad I did buy the small size now though as it’s easy to store and so much easier to travel with and take in my handbag. I’ve not tried many setting sprays but this one has definitely been the best one so far. A few spritz and it really does help your makeup last even in 32 degree heat. This spray in particular is designed for oily skin and made to deflect surface shine without feeling at all heavy on the skin. Without a doubt this is coming to New York with me tomorrow!

glitter eyes rose, pink glitter quad palette, review

Glitter Eyes Rose Quad Palette*

If you follow me on Snapchat or are a regular reader of my blog I’m sure you know my love for Glitter Eyes by now. I was lucky enough to be sent a whole load of their awesome sparkly glitter palettes and I couldn’t not include the pink rose quad palette in this post because come on… just look at it!! You won’t find pressed glitters or eyeshdows any sparklier than these. They can be applied straight from the palette to your eyes, or on top of some Glitter Fix Gel for extra POW and staying power. Glitter Eyes offer a huge range of shades. You can buy them individually, in palettes or make up your own palette choosing the colours you want. I’ve blogged about some of their others glitters here if you want to see some swatches.

urban decay Eden eye primer review

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (Eden)

Since trying an eye primer a few years ago I will never use eyeshadow without a primer. Never. It makes such a different to the intensity of colour and staying power. Up until now I’ve always used MAC’s Prep & Prime Eye Primer which is great and does the job of holding my eyeshadow in place and making the colour pop! But this Urban Decay  Eyeshadow Primer Potion does all that and brightens the eye. I cannot get over how brighter my eye looks once it’s applied and it makes my whole eye area look bigger. The Eden potion itself is pale yellow so great at combating any redness which eyelids tend to be susceptible to. It applies smoothly and doesn’t crease throughout the day. I love, love, love this stuff!

L'OREAL Glam Bronze La Terra Healthy Glow review

L’OREAL Glam Bronze La Terra Healthy Glow*

As a brand L’OREAL has long been known for it’s quality across across a wide range of products but I forgot how affordable their makeup range is. This bronzer and blush combo palette is perfect to take in your handbag or when you travel as it’s two products in one, and best of all only costs £12.99! I love the tone of the bronzer as it’s not at all orange which is never a good look, but particularly not on skin as fair as mine. The blush is a tad too red for me and very pigmented so I mix it with the pale highlighter in the palette (the colour opposite it) and it produces a lovely rosy glow. I’ve been really impressed with it so I’m looking forward to trying some of the other L’OREAL goodies I’ve got waiting for me 🙂

L'OREAL Infallible Sexy Balm, 202 Adventure, review

L’OREAL Infallible Sexy Balm – 202 Adventure*

I picked up this Sexy Balm and applied it to my lips thinking “Oh a balm, that will be quite sheer so I should probably put a lot on”. Boy was I wrong!! The pigmentation in this balm is so intense it looks like a lipstick, but is soft and light like a balm. Brilliant! The L’OREAL Infallible Sexy Balms come in sheer and bold shades, with 202 Adventure being the bold version. I love a statement lip so these are perfect for me, but if you’re a fan of the more natural look then take a look at their sheer colours. They feel so silky and moisturising on the lips so it’s a thumbs up from me!

ThisWorks Perfect Legs Skin Miracle, review

ThisWorks Perfect Legs Skin Miracle*

A new product in this month from a brand I have heard a lot about but never tried. ThisWorks Perfect Legs Skin Miracle is a browny/ gold serum so perfect if you want that slight bit of colour. Its by no means a fake tan but helps give that sun kissed glow and cover up an imperfections – but luckily no orange hands if you forget to wash them after. Come on, we’ve all been there…… It contains vitamins C & E,  is very moisturising to the skin and soaks in quickly which is a must for me. I love it. Another product that is coming to NYC with me!
