It’s 6:30 am on Wednesday morning and I’m up writing this blog post when instead I should be tucked up inside my bed….. As I go to New York on Monday (sorry I know I’ve mentioned it a million times already) I’m not going to get any blog posts live while I’m away. I fly back Friday night and go straight into a 3 day wedding on the Saturday – I think I’ve mentioned before that my life is pretty hectic! I’m pretty sure I’m going to be jet lagged and exhausted, so probably won’t be getting any blog posts out immediately once I’m back either! Because I loved this product so much I literally couldn’t wait until September to blog about it, so this is why I find myself sat here with a strong coffee frantically typing at 6:30 am. Yep, some people do call me crazy…..
I’m talking about the Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base*. This is Burberry’s cult product which is used to create Burberry’s signature dewy glow you see on the catwalk – If it’s good enough for Cara Delevingne, it’s good enough for me…… It’s become so popular that Burberry subsequently launched a Fresh Glow Foundation, BB Cream and Powder Foundation to add to the Fresh Glow collection – all of which I now desperately need to try!
The Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base is a multi-use base illuminator which is housed in a sleek square shaped bottle. The lid is shiny with Burberry’s tartan print subtly covering it. The bottle has a pump dispenser and because of the large lid that goes over it you know there will be no accidental spillages, which makes it great for travelling or throwing in your handbag. Although it’s made from plastic it doesn’t look at all cheap and feels heavy in the hand.
Burberry produce the Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in two shades – Nude Radiance 01 and Golden Radiance 02 (which is what I’ve been testing) and can be used in a variety ways:
- On it’s own
- Under your foundation
- Mixed with foundation
- Applied on top of makeup wherever you want that extra bit of glow
I’ve seen some people remark about it’s great primer qualities and others moan that it doesn’t work as a primer, but it’s intention isn’t to be a primer or a highlighter, but an illuminator. There is a big difference.
Golden Radiance is a sheer soft gold colour which I find really brightens my skin. It’s pearlescent, not sparkly – so think dewy glow, rather than glistening highlight. The Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base will do for your face what an extra shot of espresso in your coffee does for your body. It will make you look brighter, wide awake and ready to take on the world.
It’s silky smooth and blends easily into the skin or into foundation if you are adding it on top. It’s incredibly light so it doesn’t look or feel cakey on the skin. I also found it to be very hydrating if I used it under foundation, and my dry patches were definitely not as visible. Bonus!
I tried mixing it with my foundation and if you use too much it will reduce the coverage of your foundation which is a no no for me, as I need all the coverage – so it’s a bit of trial and error until you get the consistency and coverage that works for you. Personally I prefer to apply it under my foundation and then dab a few bits on top of my foundation on the cheek, nose and chin areas to add a bit more of a glow.
This has been my first try of any Burberry makeup and they haven’t let me down, so I’m now eager to try more of their range. I’m hoping my early morning efforts weren’t wasted and that you love this post as much I love the Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base 🙂
Have you tried any Burberry makeup? Any suggestions on what I should try?
