4 Of The Best Hotels I’ve Stayed At

4 of the best hotels I've stayed at, travel blogger, luxury

Like everyone else I love my holidays. I try and go on at least three a year and some years I have managed to squeeze in five (yes I’m a greedy gal!), but I must admit I am a total holiday snob and I like my luxury. I go on holiday for relaxation and indulgence. I want 5 star hotels, exquisite food and bundles of champagne. I’m not one to back pack, go trekking, camping or any of the adventurous things you can think of. My idea of a good holiday is to be waited on and to stuff my face silly! Through my years of holidaying I’ve been lucky enough to stay at some amazing places so I thought I would give you a low down of my top 4 hotels that I’ve stayed at in the world. All these holidays were before my blogging days and therefore before I got snap happy, so sadly none of these photos were taken by me, anyway enjoy and get ready for the holiday blues!……

If you want luxury then this hotel is for you. Resita Suites is more than just a hotel as you practically stay in a “home” located within the complex. A huge bedroom with a 4 poster bed, shower, Jacuzzi, garden and your very own private swimming pool. All complete with a 24 hour butler. Yep, see I told you it was luxurious. We had a suite and swimming pool exactly like you see in these photos and it was pure heaven.

The hotel is located right on the beach and there is also a beautiful communal pool if you wanted to go and people watch for the day. The food was amazing and room service was a perfect choice when you couldn’t even be bothered to leave your pool and walk all of 5 minutes to go to the restaurant to get food! I remember feeling like royalty as I lay in my bikini by our pool, heard a knock at the door and then our food and champagne was wheeled in on a trolley on silver trays.

The hotel is equipped with a gym, tennis courts and they even had bikes you can hire, which we did a few times.

Resita suites is an adults only hotel situated in Acharavi which is in the northern part of Corfu. I went out of season so it was very quiet but I’ve been told it’s a lot more lively during the main summer season. The historic and stunning Corfu old town is only a bus ride away which was beautiful and I would highly recommend taking a trip there.

This hotel is perfect if you want pure relaxation and indulgence. If you want to spend a week not being interrupted by anyone and just enjoying each others company, eating and drinking then this place is for you. There’s a reason this hotel has 5 stars on TripAdvisor!

This was a tough choice as I have stayed at a lot of the 5 star hotels in London and it was between Claridges and The Savoy, but Claridges just nipped it. There’s probably not much I can say about Claridges that you don’t already know. It’s iconic. An 18th century grade 11 listed building that is located on Brook Street in Mayfair and is known as the “Annexe to Buckingham Palace” due to it’s long standing connection with the Royal family.

The hotel has an art deco style to its interior and oozes sophistication. I have a strong passion for  beautiful architecture and decor and Claridges has in in abundance.

As you probably know a stay at Claridges doesn’t come cheap, with “basic” rooms starting at £480 a night, but what you’re really paying for here is the service. It was service like I have never experienced. You are never waiting for anything, nothing is too much, you are always greeted with a smile and you are even taken to your room and shown around when you check-in.

The bed was one of the biggest I have stayed in with crisp luxury white sheets. The bathroom was fully marbled (blogger heaven!) and I even had a bottle of champagne waiting in the room when I arrived – although that was an extra.

If you’re a fan of afternoon tea make sure you book yourself in for it here during your stay as I can highly recommend it!

Although this trip was my worst holiday of my life (I ended up in a Mexican hospital for most of it) I still had to include it in my top 4 as for the two days I wasn’t sick this hotel was out of this world!!

I upgraded to the Excellence Club Swim Up suite, which not only meant that you opened the doors of your suite to a stunning swim up pool but you also receive all the Excellence Club benefits. Excellence Club members can expect ultra-pampering. From fresh flowers in your room to daily fresh fruit, a premium mini bar, 24 hour room service, a 4 poster bed and Bvlgari toiletries – every detail is thought of. We also enjoyed a private beach area where you are greeted with a cool mist sprayed on your face, a glass of champagne and butlers that wait on you hand and foot. They will make your sun bed up with a bundle of towels, bring you cold flannels when it gets too hot and any cocktail you could possibly imagine. On top of all this there is late departure check-out, a members lounge and a members only bar. Phew, that was a lot to get through…..

There are over 20 bars and restaurants on the resort from buffets to à la carte. As a holiday snob I wasn’t looking forward to trying the buffet food but O.M.G it was amazing! Every sort of food you could possibly desire. Food is ma thang so it was like an Aladdin’s cave for me!

On top of the amazing suites, service, food and drink there was plenty to do in this adults only hotel. So much so that if you didn’t ever want to leave the hotel you didn’t need to. A gym, out of this world spa, dance classes, chocolate tasting, wine tasting, whiskey tasting, snorkeling, sailing, wind surfing and many other day and evening activities to keep you occupied.

The staff here could not do enough for you. For me that is a key factor as to what makes a good hotel and you could not fault the staff at the Excellence Playa Mujeres. When I got taken into to hospital they rang (my then) partner everyday to ask how I was and if there was anything they could do.

Although I literally have nightmares about this holiday (it was pretty traumatic to say the least) I still really would love to go back as I couldn’t fault the hotel one little bit. If you are looking for a hotel in Mexico be sure to check out the Excellence Playa Mujeres!

This is the only 4 star hotel to appear in my list (shock horror) but it’s here for good reason. Firstly just look at the photos….. and yes, it does look exactly like that in real life.

La Piscine Art is an adults focused luxury boutique hotel and it was after visiting here that I found my love for small intimate hotels. We got to know all the staff and became the best of friends with them. I visited here 8 years ago and I still stay in touch with some of the staff over Facebook to this day. They were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Because the staff were brilliant and it was only a small hotel it had a fab relaxed atmosphere where everyone got on and you chatted to other guests at the hotel.

The decor was modern and the food and cocktails were faultless. You can probably see there is a trend here for what I look for!

The outside area was my favourite. Comfy sun beds, with a gorgeous pool which we also ate our breakfast and lunch round. There is nothing like waking up and eating a yummy breakfast in front a of a glistening pool. Bliss.

Skiathos as a resort is one of my favourite in the world and I would love to go back. I have such a soft spot for the Greek islands. Skiathos is romantic, trendy and beautiful. A must visit!
