Hey lovely people!!
I’ve been dying to get this post out so I can show you my amazing new Saint Laurent handbag that I’m so excited about.
I’ve known for months that I wanted to treat myself to a new handbag and I couldn’t decided between the Saint Laurent Classic Medium Kate Monogram Handbag, the Gucci Dionysus and the Chloe Faye handbag. I’ve been umming and ahhing as to which one to choose so I thought before I made a decision I would go and see each handbag in person – as opposed to just staring at them online, before I purchased one.
So on my recent trip to London last week I deiced to pop in to a few of the stores and see what they had and how they looked on me. I mean you have to try and handbag on don’t you…? I did not plan on buying a handbag at this point. Firstly I went into Gucci to check out the Dionysus. I loved it and it may well be my next purchase but as it is such a new handbag I didn’t know how quickly it would go out of fashion. Next stop was Saint Laurent and as soon as I saw the Classic Medium Kate Monogram Handbag I was in love! To be fair there were two others that came very close contenders (which you can see on my Instagram), but I decided I preferred the Kate as it’s a classic and the other two handbags were only seasonal and were unlikely to be in next seasons collection.
I thought I would go home and sleep on it and maybe come back at Christmas or the New Year and get it, but after the very friendly shop assistant offered me a glass of champagne it kinda sealed the deal and there I was the owner of a new Saint Laurent! I’m easily swayed!
The handbag came beautiful wrapped in a dust bag and tissue paper and placed inside a sophisticated black Saint Laurent box.
I’m so glad I choose the YSL Classic Medium Kate Monogram Handbag as it is an absolute iconic item that should not only retain it’s value, but it will no doubt increase in value. The Kate Monogram was named after Kate Moss and has been in the classic collection since its launch in 2010. You will never see this handbag discounted anywhere as it is such a classic. It’s that, that really swayed me over the Dionysus and Faye handbags. As lovely as they are, they are not yet a classic. The Dionysus will be in next years SS17 collection but who knows after that…. Saying that I still might have to get that one as well!
The Saint Laurent Kate Monogram is the perfect handbag that you can take from day to night. There is a version you can get with a tassel but I felt that was more an evening look, so I opted for the non-tassel option. You can get the this handbag in quite a few other colours (again some seasonal) but I think black is the colour most likely to go with everything.
It’s a decent size, and although it won’t fit my Olympus PEN camera in it, it will fit my purse, keys, phone, tissues, some powder and a lippy – all the essentials! The handbag straps are gold chains and made of brass which can be held in 3 different ways. It’s quite hard to explain the 3 ways to you in this post but I’ll be showing it on my Snapchat soon if you want to take a peek.
When you are investing in an expensive handbag you want it to stand the test of time so another factor to consider is the texture of the leather. All the YSL handbags I looked at were real leather but a couple of them had a smooth finish, one was crocodile skin and the one I bought was textured leather. I loved the crocodile skin finish and that was my second choice but I try and stay away from smooth leather finish handbags as they show ups scuffs and marks so much more.
I’ve been working like a crazy women for a few months now doing 18 hour days, drinking all the coffee and surviving on very little sleep so I felt like I needed something to make it all worthwhile and this handbag has certainly done that.
What do you think of my Saint Laurent Classic Medium Kate Monogram Handbag? Are there other handbags you can recommend I look at?
