Last year I aimed to start a monthly favourite post but for one reason or anyone it fizzled out after only doing one! I decided I wanted to write one again but the products I wanted to feature I haven’t only just discovered or been using in February – some of them I’ve been using for months, so I didn’t think “February Favourites” would quite cut it. So I’ve settled on the boring title of “Current Favourites” – not particularity catchy or creative but at least it gets the message across! So let’s get into it…. Here are some makeup and beauty products that I’ve been loving recently.

Burt’s Bees Satin Lipsticks
As a Burt’s Bees virgin I wasn’t sure what to expect from their new lipstick range when I attended their launch event in London recently. I knew they did lip balm but didn’t know much else about their range and boy have I been missing out. Not only have they just launched these new satin lipsticks but they offer a whole range of lip products like glosses, shimmers and crayons – just in case you were like me, and didn’t know. The new Burt’s Bees satin lipstick range comes in 18 different shades, are 100% natural and are so moisturising – which I need at this time of year as my lips are so dry. When you apply them they feel smooth and soft, like you are applying lip balm. The pigmentation varies from shade to shade with the darker tones being more pigmented. If you like a natural looking lip then you will love these and all for £9.99 each!
Kissed by Mii Effortlessly Easy Tanning Mousse
I’ll admit, Mii Cosmetics isn’t a brand I ever associated with tanning products and I didn’t even know they did a tanning range until I tried their Instant Shimmer Temporary Tanning Lotion last year. I loved it so much that I was eager to try some more of their range. Mousse tans are always my favourite formulas as I find them easier to blend, and quicker to dry on my skin than lotions. The Kissed by Mii Effortlessly Easy Tanning Mousse is tinted (which is a must for me) so you can see where you have applied the tan and make sure you’ve not missed any patches. Once you sleep in it overnight and wash it off you are left with a beautiful golden tan that looks very natural. I’ve also been using the Kissed by Mii Tanning Mitt which I love as most of the mitts I’ve used get holes in after about 1 use and this one is still going!
Beautyblender Liquid BlenderCleanser
I will always put my hands up and say if I was wrong and I’m going to have to say I was wrong about the Beautyblender Liquid BlenderCleanser. I’ve been using a Beautyblender sponge for years and one of my early blog posts was a review on it – please don’t read it as I had just started blogging and the photos are terrible, but here is an extract from it “You can buy products specifically made to clean the sponge but I always think its a bit of marketing hype so I didn’t bother“. Well I can tell you now that the Liquid BlenderCleanser is no marketing hype! This product is a millions times better at cleaning my Beautyblender than baby shampoo, which is what I used to use. The first time I used it I was shocked as it got rid of some stubborn stains I had not been able to remove using baby shampoo. I will now only ever use the BlenderCleanser to wash all my makeup brushes and sponges with – seriously, if you haven’t tried it you need to! Give in to the hype – it’s worth it!
Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel
Another new brand in my makeup bag….. Can you believe that this the first piece of Chanel makeup I own!? The Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel (it’s a mouthful I know) is a lightly whipped tanning mousse that is effortless to apply. Sometimes I find cream bronzers/ contouring products can be quite dry which make them difficult to blend. The Soleil Tan De Chanel feels dry in the pot and on the brush, but as it’s a mousse texture it’s so easy to blend and very build-able. It has a warm undertone to it so can seem a tad too orange on my pale days, but it’s perfect for my fake tanned days. If I’m going out out I then always use a grey toned power powder on top to even it out because I like a hell-a-lot of contouring! However, when I choose to have more subtle days I will use just the Soleil Tan De Chanel on it’s own. I don’t think this would suit all skin colours as it only comes in one shade, but if you’re fair to medium then it would be perfect!
M&S Formula Absolute Sleep Cream
I fell in love with the M&S Formula Absolute Night Cream when it launched last year and I wrote a whole post on it which you can read here. I love it so much I’m now on my second tub. Although, it seems that I’m not the only one that loves it, as this cream has been such a success that it is now sold out online and you will need to go on a waiting list to get your hands on it! For only £22 this cream promises to make it look like you have had 8 hours sleep even when you haven’t! Brilliant, right..? Read the rest of my dedicated post to find out more!
Antipodes Apostle Skin-Brightening Serum
This water based organic facial serum helps brighten dull, blemished and uneven skin tone. The grape and kiwi extracts also help reduce redness which I really suffer with. I’ve been using this day and night and I love the affect it’s been having on my skin. I apply it after I have cleansed and toned, but before my moisturiser and it’s quickly absorbed – I hate having to hang around between adding my layers of potions to my skin, so this is perfect and speeds up my getting ready time which is always a bonus. The Antipodes Apostle Skin-Brightening Serum has been rated by bloggers worldwide as a Holy Grail product for your bathroom and now I can see why!
