I’m usually quite behind the times with new releases, but for good reason.
I like to wait until new makeup launches have been out a while so I get time to read multiple reviews, look at swatches and decide if I really really need it.
This thought process however, went completely out the window when BECCA launched their new palette in conjunction with Chrissy Teigen a few weeks ago.
To be fair I did see a few reviews and swatches as it had already been launched in the US, but I waited no time in deciding if I really needed it. Once that email popped into my inbox my bank card had practically jumped out of my purse.
My main reason for this is that I’ve been really eager to try more BECCA products. I have the BECCA Shadow & Light Contour Perfector and can’t rave about it enough. I’ve hit pan on the paler shade so I thought I might as well try this palette which had a similar contour shade in it. Plus let’s not forget the stunning packaging….. just wow! Like most makeup addicts I’m a sucker for some pretty packaging!!
The BECCA X Chrissy Teigen Palette contains 2 highlighters, a blush and a contour shade.
Highlighter 1: Rose Gold
Highlighter 2: Beach Nectar
Blush: Hibiscus Bloom
Contour: Malibu Soleil
They are housed in a beautiful shiny metallic pink case with a pink and gold marble effect on the front, which feels sturdy and well made.
Quality wise I can’t fault this palette. The shades blend well and are so pigmented. You only need a light hand to apply the blush in particular.
The contour shade isn’t too dissimilar to the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow in fair-medium, so it works perfectly for my pale skin. Saying that I do go OTT on my contour so even if you have the same colour skin as me you still may find it tad too dark.
However sadly for my skintone the highlighters don’t. I should have guessed this as Chrissy herself has a lot darker skin than me so the warm highlighters are a perfect match for her. I know that as I’m super pale mainly white highlighters suit me best but yet I still went ahead and ordered this palette as I have no self control!
I can get away with wearing the Beach Nectar highlighter if I have fake tanned, but sadly the Rose Gold one just won’t get touched.
The only thing I think is odd is the inclusion of the contour shade. I’m not sure how well it will look on darker skin. I would have thought if this palette was made for darker skin tones then they would have included a darker contour shade instead. Not that I’m complaining – it means I can use it!
A great quality palette with stunning shades but I would say it’s more suited to those who have a medium – dark skintone or like warm highlighters.
The BECCA X Chrissy Teigen Palette cost £45 and can be purchased Space NK or Cult Beauty.
