It dawned on me while writing my last monthly favourites post that I haven’t ever spoken to you about my all time favourite makeup pieces – you know, the items you keep repurchasing time and time again. How have I gone over 3 years of blogging about makeup and not done this!?
Well I’m finally fixing it and I’m here to tell you about the 5 makeup items that I can’t stop buying. Some are products that I’ve not deviated from in over 10 years and some I’ve just discovered in the last year or so. Either way for a beauty blogger who is lucky enough to be sent lots of makeup samples I think it goes to show how good these products are for me to still keep buying them.
Urban Decay Eden Eyeshadow Primer Potion
REPURCHASED: 4 Times (about to order a 5th)
This is one of those products that you apply and immediately see the difference. A lot of people forgo eye primers but I wouldn’t ever apply eyeshadow now without it!
The Urban Decay Eden Eyeshadow Primer Potion brightens the eye and gives you a nice clean blank canvas to apply your eyeshadow on. Whenever I apply this on Instagram Stories and show the before and after I was get DMs asking me what it is, as it makes that much of a difference.
It helps your eye shadow last longer without any creasing – even after 14 hours my eye shadow still looks perfect.
It’s easy to blend AND I use it to carve my eyebrows out with too. It really is a great multi use product. There is nothing I dislike about it and I haven’t found an eye shadow primer to beat it yet!
You can buy the Urban Decay Eden Eyeshadow Primer Potion here.
L’Oreal Lash Architect 3D Mascara
REPURCHASED: 50+ Times
If my memory serves me right the L’Oreal Lash Architect 3D mascara has been a staple in my makeup bag for over 10 years – well basically a very long time!
Now you may be thinking “I’ve not heard of that mascara” and that’s because it’s so old its been discontinued for years and L’Oreal no longer sell it! Yeh, I did just say that. The only way I manage to buy it is via eBay. Now I’ve been told off for this many times as the mascara themselves are going to be really old as they don’t make them anymore, but I’ve not had any problems using them and it’s the BEST mascara I have ever used so I keep repurchasing them. I know, naughty me…I’m scared that one day I will buy the very last Lash Architect 3D in the world and I literally don’t know what to do with myself!!
This mascara does everything you want it to – it adds volume and length. It curls and it’s easy to remove. The brush is just the right size to get into the inner corners and well basically, I love it.
If anyone knows of a mascara that is currently in production that looks like this then please let me know! Oh and sorry about the messy mascara in this pic but it’s well used!
You can buy the L’Oreal Lash Architect 3D Mascara from eBay – But please don’t buy any as that will mean there are less for me to buy 😉
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder
REPURCHASED: 4 Times
The Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder is one of the those hype products that you hear everyone talk about and it’s for good reason. It’s flipping fantastic. Listen, if Matt Goss recommends it you know it will be good.
I wrote a full blog post on the pressed version of this powder which you can read, but as the loose powder is much better value for money I buy that now instead, but they are exactly the same formula.
The Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder is great at setting my foundation with just a thin layer. It’s light, silky and creates a soft focus look – as soon as you apply it you can see the difference.
If you like to use a translucent powder to set your foundation then you need to try the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder – I’m positive you won’t be disappointed.
You can buy the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder here.
MAC Studio Fix Foundation & Kat Von D Lock It Foundation
MAC REPURCHASED: 20+ Times. KAT VON D REPURCHASED: 4 Times
Now I’ve included these two products together, as not only are they both foundation, but I love them equally so I couldn’t separate them as I’d be writing the same thing about both of them.
The MAC Studio Fix and Kat Von D Lock It foundations are both full coverage, that blend well and see me through long days at work and nights out. MAC Studio Fix has slightly better coverage but the Kat Von D foundation is buildable. I wear both of these foundations together every day. I always mix my foundations daily to get the right shade depending on the intensity of my fake tan.
Again if you’ve ever watched me do my makeup on Instagram Stories you will see the transformation that happens when I put foundation on. My skin is pretty red, with lots of scars, blemishes and freckles and these foundations cover all of that and make it flawless. If anyone ever asks how my skin looks flawless I put it down to these beauties.
If you like a full coverage foundation and have combination to oily skin then you need to give these both a go!
You can buy MAC Studio Fix here. You can buy Kat Von D Lock It foundation here.
