If you’ve read my blog before or follow me on Instagram you’ll know I that I have a huge amount of love for the By Terry brand, and their Terrybly Densiliss Foundation is now my favourite foundation which you can read about here. So when By Terry launched the new Nude-Expert foundation last week which is claimed to give a filter like finish I was incredibly excited, but also thinking at the same time “Can this really be as good as the Terrybly Densiliss foundation?”.
I’ve been using the By Terry Nude-Expert foundation daily for just over a week now so I wanted to give you my thoughts……
The By Terry Nude-Expert Duo Stick is a 2-in-1 half foundation and half highlighter stick, with a small sponge applicator at the other end. The foundation is velvety smooth with a matte finish and the highlight is semi sheer. The combination together gives you a matte, but with a touch of satin finish. Just beautiful.
It glides on easily and is buildable. At first I used a buffer brush to blend the foundation in which was a big mistake, it literally buffs the foundation away, so you really do need a sponge to blend the foundation in. I tried using the sponge at the end of the stick but it was so small that it was taking too long, so I used my trusted Beauty Blender (using it more dry than normal) and it worked perfectly.
It evens out my skin tone whilst still looking natural and covers blemishes. The coverage is medium, but buildable to almost full – I still need to use something heavier like concealer under my eyes, but I do this with all foundations anyway. It is good at covering small spots though – I use just the foundation half of the stick and dab it on the spot and it hardly needs any blending.
Since I’ve been wearing this foundation I’ve even had my best friend comment on how good my skin looked, which is odd because it’s not in great condition at the moment, so I think it goes to show how good the finish of this foundation is! By the time I saw her I’d been wearing my foundation for 8 hours and she said it looked really natural. It really does give the filter like finish that they promise.
The By Terry Nude-Expert foundation blends well (with a sponge), but as with all stick foundations it takes more work than a liquid.
The staying power of the By Terry Nude-Expert foundation is brilliant! I have oily skin and wore it for 12 hours on Saturday (setting it with translucent powder) and by the end of the night it was still in tip top condition! Even with its long staying power it doesn’t feel at all heavy on the skin.
The By Terry Nude-Expert Duo Stick costs £40 which I was very pleasantly surprised about. Their Terrybly Densiliss Foundation is £78, and when you think there are a lot of other high end foundations priced £30 and over I think £40 for a foundation of this quality isn’t at all bad.
The only negative I can find about this foundation is that only comes in 10 shades, so olive and dark skin tones will struggle to find a match. I do hope they expand their colour range so more people can benefit from this fab foundation.
